This tutorial shows you the ins and outs of car body smoothing. Whether it be badge removal or door handle, its all here. Smoothing should be the first thing you do to your Photoshop as we all know.. less is more.

Removing door handles

STEP 1: Lasso (L) an area on the door that is a similar shape, size and colour as the door handle. Copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) this selection as a new layer.

  

STEP 2: Click on the Move Tool (V) and then drag the new layer over the door handle. If the new layer does blend in, use the eraser tool (E) and gently erase the edges of the new layer. If there are slight colour diffrences, this can be fine tuned using the Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation dialogue box.  

STEP 3: The same method can be employed for smoothing lights, badges, bonnet vents and washer jets.  
Top Tips: Try using the Smudge tool (R) for blending out panel line and bumper joins.
